Teething, toddling, and talking

Since Alistair got his first six teeth months ago now (they came in quick succession starting around six mos.), we have been in a teething desert and Mari had none. Well, its feast or famine over here as they've gotten nine more combined (her first five, and him four more) in the last two weeks. I'm actually surprised they are doing as well as they are, considering, but it doesn't seem to phase them.

She is a crazy girl, so curious (we call her Dora, not that she is allowed to watch her), and loves to walk everywhere. She walk laps around the house (holding my hands) and cruises everywhere: around the room, circling a piece of furniture, or just along a wall (hello, spider girl...).   I'm not sure how long it'll be before she goes out on her own, but she is completely fearless, so I'm guessing not that long. He is standing now, but he's on his own schedule, so I'd be surprised if he walks in the next few months.

There is so much talking going on over here now, it's all jabbering all the time. But he especially loves to just look at me and say "mama" with his precious smiling face (melts my heart).   They love daddy like no other and talk about him all day, so I spend a lot of time explaining to them that he is at work so they can live their charmed lives. She mimicked me the other day and said "uh oh".  It was adorable.
I think she is trying to hug him here

That was pre-haircuts. I trimmed the flips over his ears last week, as he was starting to look like a surfer. He is getting some curl in the back, now that it is getting longer, so he is not going to be as straight as me, though he totally has my hair (auburn highlights and all), while hers is more like DH's. She doesn't hold still long enough for me to feel confident cutting hers, so I took her to the shop. This was somehow the very first time I went out with only one child, and it is in fact ridiculously easier than with two. I was prepared for her to freak out, so of course sitting on my lap, with her bink and her blanket and her little people flamingo toy... she was happy as a clam, and got cleaned up in time for her party.

Even though I stopped pumping a few weeks ago, my breasts didn't get the memo for quite awhile. Old habits die hard, I guess.  They got really firm, though not sore, just awkward and really big.  Now they are so much smaller, even smaller than before.  Though after almost two years, I almost forgot what they were like pre-pregnancy and breastfeeding.
