Important Lessons

I read things all the time that I think about sharing, I really should just start of runner of article links in my sidebar (which I now have).  But this was too good (and hit way too close to home) not to share (original source).  It wasn't until I dealt with infertility (and loss) that I realized how my life up to that point had prepared me for the strength that I needed to get through it, and I wish there was a way for everyone to have the strength and wisdom that comes from a life of struggles, you know without all the struggles, but that is not how life works.

Embrace the hard stuff that finds you, it is what makes you stronger and better than you were before.

Resale blog is live!

Last month, we sent two suitcases of baby clothes to India with my mother in law to share with our family there, but we likely won't be going again for awhile.  Well, now the kids have since outgrown a bunch more clothes that we are looking to pass on.  I've got over 40 lots up now, but will probably be posting more in the next few weeks.  Check it out at http://littlegoldcloset.blogspot.com/.  The link will be added to my sidebar.  Feel free to share. :)

Some highlights...

Taking my blog private and six weeks!

I have decided to make my blog private, as I've realized my election to not be picked up in Google searches was somehow recently deactivated and I've had thousands of hits in the last few weeks (8697 to be exact) from people who don't know me or presumably care about our journey.  Ah, the joys of the internets...  A bit too creepy for this non-AW pregnant lady...

If you'd like to continue reading about our journey, please e-mail me at kthappy76@gmail.com so I can give you access.

How your baby's growing at six weeks: (from BabyCenter.com)

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears are all beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil. :)

Still feeling really good, just thankful I can sleep as much as my overheated body decides it wants to, as it's not necessarily through the night.  No nausea at all, yet...  So much different than last time.

1st Blogoversary!

Can you believe it? I've been tapping away over here for a whole year. It all started when DH and I went to the drop-in hour of an IF therapist a year ago, the same one who leads the biweekly support group that I'm blowing off this very morning, and she encouraged me to start journaling. And since I live in the 21st century, I figured that meant I needed to start a blog. So here we are.

Now I'm going to bore you with a rewind on what has happened since we started...

Last January, we had just started with a new RE (our 2nd, we've since been to three more), and were getting ready for my much anticipated septum surgery (I've since had another). We then went on to find out that instead of being completely unexplained, we are just sort of unexplained, since DH has marginal sperm morphology (which is not proven to prevent success, but certainly doesn't help). We had another failed IUI (this time w/injects) and after many delays finally got to do IVF, only to lose our baby in the 9th week. So now we are waiting to do yet another hysteroscopy to make sure all is good in the ute before proceeding with our FET. Lord help me if it's not.

So in short frankly we haven't really made a whole hell of a lot of progress. So here's to year two of blogging (and year three of TTC) being much more fruitful and productive than the last...

I won!

Last week, I entered a giveaway on Leah's blog, Deliciously Determined, and I won! It's for $40 towards anything my heart desires at CSN stores.com. I've been on the look out for a new dining room light for awhile now and thought this would be a good use of the $. But then I see that there are over 10K (!!) different pendants and 8K chandeliers (!!) to choose from on the site. Tyranny of choice, anyone? I'll be sure to give an update when I choose a light or one of the other million plus items that they carry. ;) Hope this is a sign that my luck is turning...

Blogging and the irony of life...

I must say it's a funny thing. I never thought in a MILLION years that I would have a blog. And if I did, it probably would have been political. Not that I didn't have anything to say (au contraire), or that my life wasn't "interesting". I guess I'm just Gen X enough to want to live my life off-line and not broadcast every little thing happening in my life. I was never big on diary writing either, though I am a master of contemplation. I just liked to keep my thoughts to myself (until now, of course) and to those closest to me. I never even read a lot of blogs until I started really dealing w/my IF. That is, except Michelle's...

My 1st year college roommate (that's what they call it at a woman's college ;) ) has been keeping a great blog since 2000(!) and now has a book deal to boot(!!).

The Underwear Drawer Blog

If you are interested in how real New Yorkers think, medicine, intelligent and sarcastic humor, etc., she's your gal. She has two adorable kids now (!!!) and has moved to Atlanta for her husband's medical fellowship.

When I was thinking of names for my blog, the most resonant were those dealing with irony, since I just can't get over how ironically so many things in my life have played out. But I thought using one of my favorite quotes would be a bit more upbeat, while still pointing out the irony that this is not "the life i've imagined" in many important respects. It's a constant journey, each day making decisions about the life you want to lead. Based on what you thought you'd do and dealing the best you can with what life throws your way. So here's to blogging... (!!!!)
