What took so long?

For someone to come up with (and me to find) a cute flip-flop with some freakin' arch support for us old ladies. Thanks DSW! And a great find at only 15 buckaroos on sale.

And of course I find this dress (which of course isn't $15, or on sale) which I'm seriously loving. Kinda reminiscent of the above, no?

I'm nothing if not predictable... ;)

From underwater to on the water

Tomorrow, we go sailing... I.can't.wait.

What a sham

So I finally decided that our little mis-matched boudoir sham that I wrote about here would go to live with the rest of it's sage family in the guest room.

Funny enough, we are now living there too, but I digress. So our bed now is without a monogrammed pillow, ::shudder::. I'm thinking now instead of ordering another boudoir, I'd like a monogrammed euro sham.

Like this, except turned down about twelve notches...

(Hilfiger's @ The Plaza in Harper's Bazaar)

Since we already have three euros on our king bed now, I thought maybe I should just move them up and get the middle one embroidered at a local shop with our joint initials, KSS. Kinda subdued, you know.

But now I'm thinking I'd like to get a new sham and keep the Frette one for future use. I like this one in euro size, ink blue border, w/this monogram style in blue.

It keeps up the accidental knock-off Pratesi look we have going now. The "chain" shams and duvet and the "three lines" monogrammed sham in the middle, and all (hopefully) in roughly matching shades of navy blue.

I'm finally calling it

It's a shitstorm. My life, that is. So after the last week or so we've had, to recall... The realization that our last seven months plus of TTC has been completely wasted. Surgery, post-op procedures, and cycling, all for naught. Now we are gearing up to do it all.over.again. I should be celebrating having a one year old this week, but no I'm nearly 34 and still stuck in infertility hell.

Our basement was/is filled with water and radon. After we got all the standing water pumped out, I managed to get the water heater pilot lit, but we still have no a/c yet (it's in the 90's here) since the furnace blower motor was also submerged. Hopefully tomorrow this will be fixed, but thank God we have another master on the ground level (and power to run fans). In the clean-up, my fingernail came off (long story)... And don't even ask about work.

And now my g-ma K is in the hospital (as of last night) with pneumonia and they are still running tests. She is 93 and is still rehabbing from her latest knee surgery and just moved to WI to live with my mom (she thinks temporarily).

So it's now unlikely my mom is coming down for my surgery. We will just have to make due on our own. Which means S will be dropping me off in Lake Forest (in the far northern burbs) on Wed. morning and driving to the southern suburbs for his meeting he can't miss and returning in the late afternoon to pick me up. So for the first time of all my surgeries so far, I will be completely alone. Here's to not coding in the OR. :|

Surgery scheduled

I had a great surgery consult yesterday. Dr. D is great. Everything fell in place for me to get in quickly and get my CD3 testing and pre-op testing all done is one trip. Surgery day is next Wednesday already!

S has a big meeting on the 4th, so my mom is coming down for the day. It'll be a 600 mile round trip for her, in about a day and a half. But I think she's actually looking forward to it, as she needs a break from her current routine (if only for a day) and I think she feels helpless that there isn't much else she can do for us. Though she has more than enough other care-giving to do in WI between my sister, the grand kids, and my grandmother.

Since I need to have a balloon taken out a few days post-op waiting until the next/our leave week wasn't an option. Unless, as my surgeon suggested, we bring him with us to the Cape. ;) I didn't want to wait until we got back, tick tock...

He could not guarantee me that we would not need another surgery and I appreciate his honesty. His goal is to get the septum down to less than 1cm, so that it is less likely to be an obstruction to a healthy pregnancy. We are also doing the lap, as I figured at this point, we might as well. Even though it's much more invasive than just doing the hysteroscopy.

Zoom zoom, let's get this week over with already...

Bench crazy (update)

These are both on their way to me now...

At the foot of our bed, current storage bench to move to guest room (I think)

As a new coffee table for the living room. I'm wondering if there will be a new rug in our future, we'll see how this goes... Thanks HHF for the tip! :) Can you tell I have a "problem" with nailhead trim? ;)

Free ship to store and if they don't work out, then back they go. And back they went... Easy peasy...

Cape ready

Last night, I finally noticed that my neglected August Conde Nast Traveler has a great article on sailing Cape Cod and the Islands that pretty much sums up a lot of what I, and myriad others, love about the Cape. "...It has been for centuries—a transcendent refuge full of restorative magic." It also reminded me that I still need to finish reading, Teddy's book, True Compass. (my old boss, circa 1997 :) )

Henry David Thoreau wrote so eloquently about it in his book, Cape Cod, which I of course have and love, and is quoted in the article. From the outer beach of Nauset, “A man may stand there and put all America behind him.”

"...I’ve never experienced a land so varied—at once wild and civilized, open and traditional, lush and spare—so transformative as Cape Cod. If offered a chance to spend the last moments of summer anywhere on earth, I can’t imagine choosing anywhere else."

We leave in 16 days... :)
